Stonehaven lies on the east coast just south of Aberdeen. Although it is a quiet idealic town it has much to offer any visitor.For accomodation

Indian, Chinese or Italian. Although it may not have a constant party night life, it is only 16 miles from the most northerly city in Britain, Aberdeen. Here you can find a number of vibrant clubs and live entertainment to suit.
Another art deco masterpiece is it's full size art deco open air swimming pool. Within 2 miles lies one of the most impressive castles, Dunnottar Castle, made famous by Lewis Grassic Gibbons "A scots Quair" and the setting

To the south lies Glamis Castle, the Queen Mothers Scottish reidence, within 30 minutes drive.. This castle has been a royal residence since the 11th
centuary and plays a part in one of Shakespears plays "MacBeth"If you are interested in literature, close by is the Lewis Grassic Gibbon Centre. Gibbon wrote a number of novels including the trilogy "A Scots Quair" for which he
is most famous for, the mejority of them under his real name of John Leslie Mitchel. The centre at Abuthnott is open from April to October and is where he spent his early life. Stonehaven lies at the very edge of some lively wild
woodlands, offreing extensive walks in the rambling countryside with a wide variety of vegitation and wildlife Stonehaven also boasts a large bird sanctuary called "Fowlsheugh" and is one of the largest bird colonies
