RUIN OF THE WEEK
RENOVATION
March 2001
STONEHAVEN

At present time the Carron and the shop units on Evan Street are undergoing a full renovation and refurbishment. Fortunately many of the original art deco details remain intact. The aim is to restore the Carron to its formar beauty, as close to when it originaly opened as possible.

So far the sunken garden on Cameron street have been completely landscaped, the steps, which had badly deteriorated to a dangerous level have been renewed, and the gates and railings have been refurbished where possible and renewed with identical materials where necessary. The roofs have been reslated using excellent quality slate, ensuring the integrity of the roof for years to come

Work inside has reached a stage where the shop units are nearly completed and the focus of the work is turning to the inside of the restaraunt. The majority of the work carried out so far has been preparation with the real restoration work about to start. the original floor has been repaired and interior fittings have been refurbished where possible. A company in Dundee has been commisioned to make replica tables and chairs to match those cast aside and found in the restaraunt to complete the authentic 1930's interior. It is with much anticipation the completion of the Carron is awaited, hopefuly around April 2001
